HUBLOT put together a celebration for the launch of my new Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph timepiece which is a North American exclusive. I spoke with FORBES about the project and explained that the way I look at this timepiece, is that this is an art piece. What Hublot is doing design-wise is more ambitious… some brands would just throw some graphics on something and otherwise, everything under the hood would be stock, but Hublot is going to every length they need to bring an artist’s vision to life. We went through a few concepts on what was possible, technically and refined it to what was inherently aligned with what we both felt worked well. The mandala compliments the watch mechanism itself suggesting harmony between the two. Harmony is a big theme for me, but the black on black palette is a nod to my punk roots. Punk rock, for me, is always about being disruptive and disharmonious when necessary, but it’s also about the liberation of creative freedom. I’m grateful to have had absolute creative freedom with this project. Thanks to the team at HUBLOT North America and Jean-Francois Sberro and my team for putting this together!
